about

One day, I was in a bad mood for no real reason. I happened to walk by a mirror, and noticed I had a ball cap on that said, "Life is Good." I immediately felt foolish and was overcome by a sense of humility, that life IS good, and I just needed the simple reminder. I now call the hat my "Happy Cap," and wrote an upbeat blues song about it in hopes to further my gratitude and spread the simple gesture to others who might need a reminder once in a while that there is much for which to be thankful.

lyrics

In a dark & lonely room
I’ve looked back at me
A frown for no good
How foolish could I be?

Well I’ve got it good
I really have it made
I just need reunited
Every few days…

I put on my happy cap
And my blues roll away
The weight on the brain
Waves weariness away

You just find a simple thing
You can wear or you can see
To remind you in the time
You really feel the need
To throw away the bad
And bring in all the good
And maybe show another
To see it as they should

I put on my happy cap
And the blues roll away
The weight on the brain
Waves weariness away
Had a bad day?
It’s all in how you view it
Well, I’ve got a way
To get on through it
He might have his happy shirt
She might have her happy shoes, well
I have my happy cap
A shelter from the blues

We’ve all got it good
We really have it made
We just need reunited
Every few days…

I put on my happy cap!
Put on that happy cap!
I put on my happy cap!

We may not be in our happy place
We may not see that happy face
But we can all have that little thing
To remind us of and give us grace

He might have his happy shirt
She might have her happy shoes, well
I have my happy cap
A shelter from the blues
